Brunei Press conducts career talk for Sixth Form students

TO PROMOTE careers in media and publishing, Brunei Press Sdn Bhd conducted a career talk for Sixth Form students yesterday at Maktab Duli as part of the Studyrama-Higher Education Career Fair.

Representing Brunei Press were its General Manager Reggie See and QAF Group Human Resources Manager Julinda Dharmawan.

See began by introducing the audience to the media and publishing industry, which he said covers careers in advertising, animation, film, interactive media, radio and television.

He also mentioned the different stages and job positions in the media and publishing industry, followed by an introduction to Brunei Press, its history and products.

The audience was then briefed on the departments and roles that exist within the organization.

See then mentioned several products of Brunei Press which have become household names, namely the country’s leading English daily newspaper, Borneo Bulletin, and its leading Malay newspaper, Media Permata.

He added that Brunei Press also offers commercial printing services such as editorial consultancy, branding, graphic design, printing, digital imaging and web & multimedia development and has a history of clientele of government bodies, banks, country clubs, supermarkets, hotels and schools.

As for corporate goals, he said Brunei Press aspires to excel as the premier media organisation in the Sultanate.

“At Brunei Press, we work for sustainable business and gainful employment opportunities for the citizens of Brunei Darussalam. To date, we are proud to have about 90 per cent local employment in our organisation.”

This was followed by a question and answer session between the students and both See and Julinda.

The session then concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to See by Hj Sabaruddin bin Hj Dahlan, Higher Education Unit Adviser at Maktab Duli.
